How do you install a lighted mirror in the bathroom correctly?
3 July, 2026
Installing a lighted mirror correctly in the bathroom is key to ensuring comfort and ease of use for everyone who will be using it, as well as maintaining visual harmony with other elements such as washbasins, furniture or windows.
When installing it, three key aspects should be taken into account:
– Distance from the washbasin and taps: it should be positioned 30 cm above the washbasin surface and at least 15 cm from the taps, to prevent splashing and ensure functionality.
– Installation height: the mirror should be positioned so that the eyes are at the top third of the mirror. Ideally, the top of the mirror should be approximately 10–20 cm above the head, so that the user can see themselves comfortably and in a natural posture. For bathrooms shared by people of different heights, such as children, you can opt for tall mirrors – no less than 80 cm – so that all users can use it ergonomically and comfortably.
– Mirror width to cabinet ratio: ideally, the mirror should be the same width as, or slightly narrower than, the cabinet or washbasin, ensuring it is not narrower than the unit below. If you are creating a layout with two mirrors above a double washbasin, ensure that the mirrors do not extend beyond the width of the cabinet. This proportion ensures visual balance, better integration with the furniture and ease of use.
