WHAT TYPE OF COOKIES ARE THERE?
Depending on the organisation managing these:
Own cookies: these are the ones which are sent to the user’s terminal equipment from a system or domain managed by the editor itself and from which the service requested by the user is provided.
Third-party cookies: these are the type that are sent to the user’s terminal equipment from a system or domain not managed by the editor, but by another organisation processing the data obtained by means of the cookies.
Depending on the period of time for which these are activated in the terminal equipment:
- Session cookies: a type of cookies designed to collect and store data while the user accesses a web page.
- Persistent cookies: a type of cookies in which the data continues to be stored in the terminal and cannot be accessed and processed for a period defined by the person responsible for the cookie, and which may range from a few minutes to several years.
- Depending on the purpose for which the data obtained through the cookies is processed:
- Technical cookies: these are the ones enabling the user to browse on a web page, platform or application and to use the different options or services found on this, such as for example to control the traffic and communication of data, to identify the sessions, access parts with restricted access, to remember the elements forming part of an order, carry out the process for purchasing an order, make the application for registration or for participation in an event, use security elements during browsing, store content for video or sound diffusion or share content over social networks.
- Personalisation cookies: these are the ones enabling the user to access the service with certain pre-set general characteristics depending on a number of criteria in the user terminal such as, for example, the language, the type of browser through which the service is accessed, the regional configuration from which the service is accessed, etc.
- Analysis cookies: these are the ones enabling the party responsible for them to follow up and analyse the behaviour of users of web sites to which these are linked. The information compiled by this type of cookies is used in measuring the activity of web sites, application or platform and for preparing browsing profiles of the users of those sites, applications and platforms, for inserting enhancements based on the analysis of the use made by the users of the service.
- Advertising cookies: these are the ones enabling the most efficient management possible of the advertising spaces which the editor may have included in a web page, application or platform from which the service requested is provided, based on such criteria as the content edited or the frequency with which the advertisements are displayed.
- Behavioural advertising cookies: these are the ones enabling the most efficient management possible of the advertising spaces which the editor may possibly have included in a web page, application or platform from which the service requested is provided. These cookies store information on the behaviour of the users obtained through continuing observation of their browsing habits, which enables a specific profile to be developed to display advertising depending on this.
